I work in a small business owned by a really close family. At some time or another, all of the family members have worked in the store, or helped out in some way. The eldest son has a friend who needed a job, so they gave him a cashier job, same as me. But now that the friend is working here, he gets the first choice of all of the shifts he wants. This means that I’m working more evenings and weekends than ever before. I’ve been with the company for a lot longer than the friend. I realize that in a really small business, seniority doesn’t count for much, but shouldn’t it at least mean that I’m treated equally? I have to do something about it. The new lousy shifts are messing up my personal life. How should I do it? |
