I was hired as a temp at a local hospital. I was told when I hired in by my supervisor that if I did a good job that the position would become permanent and that I would quickly move up from an assistant to a professional position. Short story, 18 months later, a person within the union with no experience got the full time permanent job that I had been promised. The union said that I had no rights to the position because I was not a permanent employee. They then made me a permanent employee because I had "been a temp for too long." I missed out on the full time permanent. Now, I am being told that I can not move up to a professional position in the department because the new leader has changed the requirements for professional positions and I do not qualify without certification that I can not obtain unless I leave the area and do an internship. Is there anything that I can do to rectify this? I have put two years and my heart/soul into this career choice. |
