I think my company is actively looking to replace me, but don't know what to do.
Ever since being promoted to management a short time ago I have worked without an assistant (unusual for this firm)and our dept. has been sorely understaffed. This has made for many hours of overtime and some disagreement with my superiors. On scanning a recent professional job search site I noticed a job posting that sounded very much like mine. The firm name was "confidential", but the listing asked for experience with several systems that are used by our firm that are not common in this field (older systems).
How do I handle this? Come right out and ask my superior if I am being replaced or just quietly start sending out resumes?

My honest opinion is that you should start sending out CVs. Your superior will in all likelihood deny anything in relation to disagreement with them or the mere fact that the department
is understaffed. We've had the same sort of issues at our office (law firm) and the employee concerned was at the end given the boot. You should save yourself the disappointment and the uncertainty of a job hunt by making a plan B for yourself.
