This is the original problem from an employee...
Hello,

I have been absent 3 times in one year and have had it marked on my record that I am a potential problem. My collegue has been absent over 25 times this year and has not mark on his record. I have reason to believe that he is not being marked as absent because he is friends with the manager, or is calling in at the last minute and taking holidays when he is sick ( I would not be allowed to do this). I am not happy as if it came to redundancies, I would go first due to my record, whereas he is the one with a problem. I have no idea what to do as if I reported the problem, it would cause bad relations with my colleagues, but I don't thinks its fair and I feel very unsettled by it.

Had the same problem at work. our manager never wrote up an employee who was absent on average once a week. answer, do nothing. if you are absent, if you have a doctors note, you should not be written up. as for the overly absent employee, he will probably leave or keep kissing the bosses ass to keep his job. try to stay healthy, go to work sick then go home, you will not be marked as absent. think smart. work smarter.
